Israeli military actions in Gaza have killed over 1,000 medical professionals, according to local authorities, as the ongoing conflict intensifies.
The Gaza government media office reported that more than 310 other medical personnel have been arrested, tortured, and executed in Israeli custody.
Hospitals have been systematically targeted, with the Israeli army accused of bombings, sieging, and storming medical facilities. The assaults have killed doctors and nurses, leaving many others injured.
Israel’s actions have prevented the entry of vital medical supplies and health delegations, exacerbating the healthcare crisis in Gaza.
“The Israeli army has made hospitals a declared target,” the Gaza media office stated, describing the attacks as part of a strategy to dismantle the region’s healthcare system.
On Saturday, Hussam Abu Safiya, the director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, was injured in an Israeli airstrike that struck the facility.
The conflict, now into its second year, has led to widespread devastation, with over 44,200 killed, most of them women and children, and more than 104,500 injured.
The international community has increasingly condemned Israel’s actions, with accusations of genocide and deliberate attempts to destroy the Palestinian population.
In a major development, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defence Minister Yoav Gallant, accusing them of war crimes.
Israel is also facing a case for genocide at the International Court of Justice, further intensifying international scrutiny.
