U.S. President Donald Trump declared Sunday that “terrorists” seeking refuge in Somalia will be swiftly defeated.
Trump voiced strong support for Somalia’s people, urging them to resist the infiltration of Houthi militants amid rising regional tensions.
He warned that efforts by the Yemeni Houthis to embed in Somalia would fail, stressing American resolve to confront terror threats.
“The time for terrorists to hide is over,” Trump wrote on social media. “Our Warfighters will find them and deliver swift justice.”
Somalia, located near Yemen across the Gulf of Aden, has seen increasing instability fueled by foreign and domestic militants.
Trump lauded General Daniel Caine, newly appointed Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, calling him a proven leader in anti-terror campaigns.
“I just empowered our Warfighters once again—just like I did against ISIS,” Trump said, referencing Caine’s prior military success.
During Trump’s first term, he credited Caine with defeating ISIS in under a month, a feat he claims Caine predicted in 2018.
Trump’s comments come amid broader U.S. efforts to counter militant threats across the Middle East and the Horn of Africa.
The former president continues to position himself as a staunch defender of aggressive military strategies abroad.
His remarks echo earlier declarations during his presidency, touting American strength and swift action against terror networks.
