Egypt is currently hosting preparatory meetings for the upcoming D-8 Summit, scheduled to take place on Thursday.
The summit will bring together leaders from eight developing countries: Egypt, Türkiye, Iran, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Nigeria.
These preparatory meetings aim to finalize the agenda for the summit, focusing on strategies to enhance economic cooperation among member states.
“Egypt attaches great importance to the D-8 organization,” stated Egyptian delegate Ragui El-Etreby, highlighting the significant economic potential within the bloc.
With a combined population exceeding one billion and a GDP of over $5 trillion, the D-8 nations possess substantial economic clout.
Foreign ministers from the member states are scheduled to meet on Wednesday to discuss the outcomes of the preparatory meetings and finalize the summit’s agenda.
The D-8 organization was established in Istanbul in 1997 with the goal of fostering economic and social development among its member countries.
