Turkey’s Erdogan hosts Somalia, Ethiopia over Somaliland rift

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan held separate meetings with the leaders of Somalia and Ethiopia to address the dispute over Somaliland.

The meetings aimed to strengthen bilateral relations and pave the way for further talks mediated by Turkey.

The dispute arose after Ethiopia announced plans to build a port in Somaliland, which Somalia opposes.

Turkey has close ties with both countries and has hosted previous rounds of talks to repair their relations.
