Syria’s interim President, Ahmed al-Sharaa, visited Riyadh on Sunday for his first foreign trip since taking office on January 29.
Al-Sharaa, who led anti-regime forces to oust Bashar al-Assad, met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to discuss bilateral relations and regional issues.
Details of the discussions were not revealed by the Saudi Foreign Ministry.
This visit marks a key moment in Syria’s efforts to rebuild international relations after years of isolation under Assad’s regime.
Assad, who ruled Syria for nearly 25 years, fled to Russia in December, ending the Baath Party’s long rule.
Al-Sharaa’s leadership focuses on restoring Syria’s diplomatic ties and addressing regional challenges, with the international community closely monitoring the outcomes of this meeting.
